The best times to fish Follyfoot
in the summer months are 6-10am and
5-9pm. During the brightest part
of the day feeding floaters on a
bubble float rig or controller is
a good tactic but hooks and hook
lengths may need to be refined as
surface feeding carp have seen it
all before. In the winter, autumn
and spring with lower water temperatures,
1pm-3pm seems to produce most bites,
with dusk also a very productive time.
Pellet and paste on the long pole
or margin pole works best with sweetcorn
or banded pellet a close second.
Pop-up boilies on the method feeder
also works, with loose fed maggot
on the waggler a good tactic during
colder months. The pole should be
fished 9-11 metres for best results.
In the summer do not neglect an inside
line, especially for margin feeding
carp in the evenings.
0.1-0.16 mainlines
for pole fishing during the summer.
No need for hook lengths - tie direct
to hook. Size 16 for banded pellet
and corn, 10-12 for paste. Elastics
in the pole 12-14 in winter, 16-20
in the summer.
Take your time on the pole to plumb the depth – look for ledges and drop offs.
Keep the loose feed accurate. Keep putting loose feed in to the peg at all times.
The lkes tackle shops stocks quality pellet whichworks well in conjunction with paste, using 4-6mm when fishing
up in the water.
